Duty Gods
The Twelve Duty Gods system assigns one of twelve presiding deities to each day in a rotating cycle. Six are "Yellow Path" (黄道) auspicious gods and six are "Black Path" (黑道) inauspicious gods. Together they determine whether a day is a "Yellow Path Auspicious Day" — one of the most sought-after designations in the Chinese almanac.
High above the mortal world, an invisible pantheon of twelve celestial beings takes turns standing guard over the gates of time. Six radiate golden light — the Yellow Path gods, whose presence blesses the day with cosmic favor. Six cast long shadows — the Black Path gods, whose governance warns of hidden dangers and friction.
Every day, one of these twelve sentinels steps forward to assume the throne, stamping the hours with their unique celestial authority. The identity of the presiding god determines the day's deepest energetic character — whether the cosmic winds blow fair or foul, whether the invisible forces support human ambition or counsel restraint.
