平安夜是圣诞节前夕，时间为每年的12月24日晚上。在西方基督教国家，平安夜是重要的节日，家人团聚，参加宗教仪式，庆祝耶稣基督即将诞生。在中国，虽然不是传统节日，但平安夜已成为流行的文化现象，尤其在年轻人中，送苹果、聚会庆祝成为时尚。

平安夜源于基督教传统。根据《圣经》记载，耶稣基督于12月25日诞生在伯利恒。平安夜是圣诞节的前夜，人们在这一晚守夜，等待耶稣的降生，参加子夜弥撒（Midnight Mass），唱圣诞颂歌，祈祷平安。传统上，平安夜是家庭团聚的时刻，准备圣诞大餐，装饰圣诞树，孩子们等待圣诞老人送礼物。平安夜强调"平安"（Peace），祝愿世界和平、家人平安。
