处暑是二十四节气中的第14个节气，也是秋季的第二个节气。每年公历8月22日或23日，当太阳到达黄经150°时为处暑。"处"是终止、躲藏的意思，处暑表示炎热暑期即将过去，署气至此而止矣。处暑节气意味着进入气象意义的秋天，我国大部分地区气温逐渐下降。处暑是反映气温变化的一个节气，"处"含有躲藏、终止的意思，处暑表示炎热暑天结束了。《月令七十二候集解》说："处，去也，暑气至此而止矣。"处暑之后，除华南和西南地区外，我国大部分地区雨季将结束，降水逐渐减少。尤其是华北、东北和西北地区必须抓紧蓄水、保墒；以防秋种期间出现干旱而延误冬作物的播种期。

End of Heat (Chushu) is the 14th solar term and the second solar term of autumn, occurring around August 22-24 when the sun reaches 150 degrees celestial longitude. "Chu" means "to stop" or "to withdraw," indicating that the intense summer heat is finally departing. By this time, the "three fu periods" of summer have passed or nearly ended. This solar term marks a genuine transition as temperatures begin their sustained decline and the "autumn tiger" periods of intense heat become shorter and less frequent.
