立夏是二十四节气中的第7个节气，也是夏季的第一个节气。每年公历5月5-7日交节，此时太阳到达黄经45度。"立"表示开始，"夏"在古语里意为"大"，寓意"万物至此皆长大"。立夏标志着季节转换，告别春天，进入夏天，表示盛夏时节正式开始。立夏时节，万物繁茂，阳气上升，气温明显升高，炎热的夏天即将到来。在中国传统文化中，立夏是一个重要的节气，古代帝王要率文武百官到京城南郊去迎夏，举行迎夏仪式。民间则有立夏称重、吃蛋、斗蛋等习俗，以祈求平安健康。

Start of Summer (Lixia) is the 7th of the 24 solar terms and the first solar term of summer, occurring around May 5-7 annually when the sun reaches 45 degrees celestial longitude. "Li" means "beginning," while "Xia" in ancient Chinese signifies "grand," implying "all things grow grand by this time." Start of Summer marks the seasonal transition from spring to summer, signifying the official beginning of the scorching summer season. During this period, all things flourish, yang energy rises, temperatures noticeably increase, and hot summer approaches. In traditional Chinese culture, Start of Summer is an important solar term - ancient emperors would lead civil and military officials to the capital's southern suburbs to hold welcoming summer ceremonies. Among common folk, customs such as weighing people, eating eggs, and egg fighting are practiced to pray for peace and health.
