立秋是二十四节气中的第13个节气，也是秋季的第一个节气。每年公历8月7日或8日，当太阳到达黄经135°时为立秋。"立"是开始之意，"秋"在古汉语中是禾谷成熟的意思。立秋标志着孟秋时节的正式开始，是从夏到秋的转折点，预示着炎热的夏天即将过去，凉爽的秋天就要来临。中国古代将立秋分为三候："一候凉风至，二候白露降，三候寒蝉鸣。"立秋并不代表酷热天气的结束，立秋仍在暑热时段，"秋老虎"往往发生在立秋之后，立秋后天气由热转凉的过程是一个漫长的过程，并不是立秋之后天气马上就转凉。立秋是阳气渐收、阴气渐长，由阳盛逐渐转变为阴盛的转折点。

This solar term marks the transition from summer's peak to autumn's maturity, though in most regions, hot weather persists. The ancient saying "Start of Autumn brings coolness" refers more to the beginning of temperature decline rather than immediate relief from heat.
